In the Grand Traverse region we are lucky to have a wide variety of camp options available! Below you’ll find info about a number of our regional camps with links to each of their websites to help you determine which adventure is the right fit!

Camp Lookout

On the shores of both Lake Michigan and Lower Herring Lake, Camp Lookout offers a schedule built around free time and imaginative play. Campers work with staff to develop new activities every day, so summers at Lookout are always a little different. Arts, crafts, sports, games, boating, camping, and more all occur – but with the unique creative twists a kid’s imagination can bring. Sessions run at 3 days, 1-week, and 2-weeks with occasional day camps.

 

Traverse City-Grand Traverse County Day Camp

The Day Camp is open to children who have completed first grade or who will be 7 years old by June 1, through 12 years of age, and has a maximum limit of 50 participants per week. The ratio of campers per counselor will be approximately 10 to 1. Campers may be registered for any number of the one week sessions or may be signed up on a daily basis as space allows.

 

Crystal Conference Center

Crystal Conference Center is located on the shores of beautiful Crystal Lake in Frankfort, Michigan. It is a ministry of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), and is founded on the teachings of Jesus Christ. Camps are designed by age groups to challenge participants to learn through fun based games and activities, while maintaining a biblical theme. Camps are open to all area-wide residents and summer visitors.

 

Crystalaire Adventures

  • Serves ages 8 – 18 for youth, and all ages for adults
  • Scholarships available

Crystalaire emphasizes using wilderness trips for social & experiential learning, using alternative education strategies built on fun. Their approach encourages the development of creativity, problem-solving, and decision making skills by giving participants as much choice and freedom as possible while planning and running customizable trips. An independent program, Crystalaire has no religious or organizational affiliation.

 

Girl Scouts of MI Shore to Shore, Camp Sakakawea

Located on the shores of Bass Lake in Traverse City this 565 acre camp hosts summer resident camp and is also available for year-round use by Girl Scouts and groups when resident camp is not in session. Camp Sakakawea, fondly called Camp Saki by the many children and adults who use it, is also the home of wildlife, virgin forest, marshland and a pristine waterfront.

 

Grand Traverse Bay YMCA

Campers will be divided into groups by age, and will remain with their groups most of the day. They will participate in activities designed around different themes each week, and will go on one field trip each week in the Grand Traverse area. All camps are tailored to be age-appropriate and developmentally-appropriate.

 

Grand Traverse Conservation District

All Nature Day Camp sessions include indoor activities and outdoor physical activities, and provide a unique combination of content-rich programming and complementary games and crafts. All programs are designed to encourage the curiosity of the natural world, allow exploration of natural areas, and promote a sense of stewardship in the next generation.

 

Lake Ann Camp

Traverse City Area Public Schools

Summer Adventure Day Camps are available to children ages 3 – 12. Camps are licensed by the State of Michigan to assure safety, health, and quality measures are met. Staff members are certified in CPR/First Aid and have met training and regulation standards. Camps are open to all area-wide residents and summer visitors.

 

YMCA, Camp Arbutus Hayo-Went-Ha

Single gender, wilderness adventure, unplugged, two or four week sessions offering traditional onsite activities such as swimming, canoeing, climbing tower, horseback riding and campfires.

 

YMCA, Camp Hayo-Went-Ha & Sparks Day Camp

All-boys resident camp offers two or four week sessions offering traditional onsite activities on scenic Torch Lake, MI. Sparks Day Camp offers a different theme each week of summer, giving each child an exciting day-camping experience.

Camp Quality Michigan

Grand Traverse County Parks & Recreation, Twin Lakes Park

DocumentTwin Lakes hosts a variety of events such as wedding receptions, church retreats, graduation parties, business meetings, scouting activities, dances, and many more. During the summer months, the facility hosts weekly camps such as high school marching bands, soccer camps, church day camps, dance groups, and 4-H youth camps. Twin Lakes Camp holds a wide variety facilities, and activities to meet the needs of any type of group. Twin Lakes Park is open to the public at 8 a.m. to dark, every day of the week.
