The entire membership of the Noon Rotary Club of Traverse City has the honor of voting annually for incoming Trustee positions for Rotary Charities of Traverse City and Rotary Camps and Services. This responsibility requires a quorum of our members to be present in order to have a valid vote.
Please mark your calendars for September 21 and September 28 and attend both meetings, either virtually on Zoom or in-person(September 21)
The first is a special meeting of the membership where we announce the slate of candidates for the Charities and Camps boards and accept nominations from the floor, members can participate virtually on Zoom or in-person on September 21st.
The second is the actual vote for board members, which will be confidential and held via Zoom. You must be present at the Zoom Club meeting to cast a vote.
We need at least 104 of you to attend! Please reach out to your fellow Rotarians and encourage them to attend or sign in to these two meetings - even if they can only attend for the first portion of each. We need you!
We are excited to introduce our newest member Kent Mueller! Kent and his wife Suzanne moved to Traverse City from Seattle earlier this year after raising their 3 children in the Pacific Northwest. When he isn't selling commercial real estate, he's patrolling the slopes and rescuing skiers at Schuss Mountain! He's also a music lover, having been the CFO of the Music Institute of Chicago and founding a music guild in Seattle, which should come in handy for our next Rotary show!
Current occupation? I own an importing company specializing in dried fruits, edible seeds and nuts. We import and distribute across the USA, Canada and Mexico.
How long have you been a Rotarian? I joined in 1992, so 29 years. My Father and my Grandfather were both Rotarians in Marion, Indiana.
What made you interested in joining Rotary? I wanted a way to meet and engage with the community. Rotary has given me that opportunity and I have enjoyed getting to know so many great people in our town and wonderful projects in the area.
What do you love the most about Rotary? I enjoy the people, but I love the 4-way test. If more people in the world thought about: is it the truth, is it fair, will it build goodwill and will it beneficial to all, we would have a better world to live in.
What has been your favorite program or volunteer opportunity with Rotary to participate in? I have participated in almost every possible program, but having the honor to serve as president of the club was extremely special.
What keeps you with Rotary? The other Rotarians and I still learn new, exciting things about our community on a regular basis.
What are you currently reading? Just started 2034: A Novel of the Next World War. Elliot Ackerman/James Stavridis.
What are you currently watching? I have been enjoying the US Open. There have been some very good matches this year.
What is a fun fact about you? I think most Rotarians know, but I have been playing pickleball for more than 35 years here in Traverse City. I am probably a bit slower than I used to be, but I still think I can play a good game.
